Don’t Even Think About Working Remotely If You Have These Traits – Because You Will Fail

remote work traitsFace it, the truth is you may not be cut out to work from home, Starbucks, and definitely not from the beach.

You don’t have the remote work traits to succeed. But guess what, it’s not rocket science, you can learn the traits you need.

How do I know this?

Because anyone can successfully work at home if they learn and live by some simple traits and work habits.

Do you have any of the following?

  • Bouts of laziness
  • Unmotivated days
  • Lack of focus
  • A short attention span
  • Strong urges to drink beer, shop, (substitute other distractions here) when you should be working

Of course you do, because you’re human. Your employer is worried too 🙂

Even the best remote workers don’t always play their “A” game.

The reason successful remote workers can succeed and thrive and be super productive is summed up in three words…learn good habits.

It’s that simple folks.  Good habits and traits must be learned.

Leo Babauta from Zen Habits speaks extensively about habit change, so check out his work, I won’t even pretend to have a fraction of his ability and elegance in teaching this.

Here is a hint.

Important traits you need to turn into habits you need to practice to successfully work remotely include the following.

  • Self motivation
  • Self direction
  • Focus
  • Passion
  • Patience
  • Love of learning

There are many more, but starting with the five listed above is a great start.
